Special Announcements: Add your blog to techwriterblogs.com wiki, and also support Tech Writer Voices

Duration: 5 min.

This is just a brief 5 min. podcast to cover two special announcements. The first is that I’ve created a blog directory wiki called www.techwriterblogs.com. This is a central directory for all blogs related to technical writing. Please add your blog info (URL and feed) there so that others can find you. The second announcement is that we now have a way for you to help support equipment and bandwidth costs for Tech Writer Voices. Please help support the podcast with a small donation. Thanks.

12/23/2007 Update: Thanks for all the support.

More information about both of these announcements is on my blog.

  1. I added our blog to your directory wiki. Thanks for bringing this group together and kudos on some fantastic content! I will keep listening and encourage others to also.

  2. Hi, Tom.
Hope this small donation will help. I really appreciate the blog and the podcasts!

  3. David, thanks for adding your site to the wiki.

John, thanks for the donation! I’m glad to hear you’re a listener. I’ve read some of your articles on RoboHelp and found them very helpful.

  4. Glad you enjoyed the articles, Tom. I have a new one coming out next week on the Adobe Captivate Developer Center on how to include Adobe Captivate animated tutorials in RoboHelp 6.

Exciting Adobe technology sneak peeks have been announced for the STC Annual Conference in Minneapolis May 13-15. I’m making two presentations and at the end of each there will be an exciting “sneak peek” of the new Adobe RoboHelp 7 (which will be mind-boggling!)and Adobe Captivate 3 (not to mention Framemaker 8 at other sessions). Adobe was serious about an accelerated technical communications development path and this will be a busy summer, indeed.

If anyone is at STC, look me up! Who knows, I may actually start my own blog and podcasts, finally. Thanx for the inspiration, Tom.

(Was gonna post this under your “10 reasons…”, but it was too depressing Hopefully, you’ll give it another chance after you see RoboHelp 7.)

  5. John,

Your note about RoboHelp 7 being mind-boggling is intriguing. I was convinced their development of the product was minimal, but I guess I’m wrong. What would really be mind-boggling, in my opinion, would be if RoboHelp imported from and exported to Framemaker seamlessly. I may have to revise my 10 Reasons Not to Upgrade Post. I’ll be sure to check out your session at conference.

  6. Tom/John –

I will be at the Information Design SIG table at the conference opening reception…stop by and say hello (on or off the record)!

So sunny here in Pittsburgh, it’s a shame I have to leave!

  7. DC,

I’ll try to stop by and say hello. Thanks for letting me know where you’ll be.

I hope the air is clean and pure in Minneapolis. Smoke blew down from fires in Georgia and the panhandle area this week — so we Floridians have been breathing bits of ash for a while.
